Personality traits of a social worker was defined for the activists in DSSS by terming them to be adaptable, interested in people, desire to help people by setting aside personal biasness, ability to communicate with people at all levels of the society, patience and a sense of empathy, a sense of humour, mental ability and flexibility to find solutions to problems, perseverance, ability to understand the way of life of people in different strata of society, Zeal, Ability to consider the internet of others even when they are not appreciative, an objective and practical approach. The fruit of the continuous animation, leadership training, integral development projects and educational programmes conducted, under DSSS, the Archdiocese of Imphal has seen the emergence of SHGs in various districts with an integral transformation of the people of Manipur to some extent. As an example, 4th North Eastern Business Submit, an international Expo was organized by DONAR and Indian Chamber of Commerce at Guwahati from 4th to 6th September 2008. DSSS was invited by the Horticulture Technological Mission, Govt. of Manipur to take part in this event. DSSS Organic Farmers Group (OFG) was also identified as the potential producer of ginger and turmeric crop.

Gender sensitization and educational programmes on rights have created a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities and complimentary relation between men and women in the society. Agriculture trainings enhancing the farming technology of the farmers from traditional to improved agriculture techniques for better soil fertility and better agricultural products were given to famers of the villages. Skills on Vermi compost production and its utility; bio fertilizer production and crop-based trainings especially for ginger and potato from the seed selection stage to post harvest management were learnt by the farmers. Having been assisted with seedlings farmers produced ginger, potato, turmeric etc. In fact, potato plantation has been taken up by the famers for the first time in the hill areas of the villages. Traditional attires, detergent and homemade processed food were also produced by the people of the area and marketed by DSSS in other areas of India.

The Village Peace and Vigilant groups of the area played a great role whenever issues came up in the village and the surroundings. Conflicts were resolved in nonviolent ways as peace education was a focal point during the three years. Better relationship and understanding of the people from these villages belonging to the three different communities exists due to the frequent meeting of the people and common issues and goals of the people. Staff capacity buildings and visit from the donor gave a lot of motivation to the staff and boosted the interest of the people towards peace and development.

DSSS, thus, the effective social transformation wing of the Archdiocese of Manipur, through creative initiatives, dynamic projects, disciplined and goal-oriented vision made a real impact on the social, economic and cultural life of the people and gave hope and strength to their everyday life. Partnering with local, national, international agencies and the Government of Manipur and India, DSS stands for the integral development of the individual and the society in its efforts to support the Archdiocese of Imphal, Manipur for the transformation of the society at large.
